Chester Whites
Generally
regarded as the most durable of the white breeds , Chester Whites adapt
well to a variety of conditions. Chester boars have shown they can settle
a large percentage of sows in first service whether you mate on concrete
or in the field.
Chester White females have a reputation for a
high conception rate, and larger number of vigorous pigs per litter. A
recent Iowa State University trial showed that Chester sows had a 12 percent
higher conception rate than three other breeds tested, and they ranked
first in number of pigs farrowed, weaned and marketed per sow.
